There was a little girl named Mildred. Mildred loved reading books. She was really smart for an 11-year-old from New Zealand. Her big dream was to find the Canterbury Panther from the South Island. They were a rare sight and they are a legendary creature hardly seen by any humans.
Mildred’s mum got hurt and needed time in the hospital which meant nobody would be able to take care of Mildred. But then Mildreds Dad came to take care of her, he was a Magician who has seen better days. Mildred shared her big dream with her Dad and they went on a trip to the South Island to find the Canterbury Panther.
They arrived and went on a long hike in the mountains. They set up camp only to find out that they hadn’t thought the weather through. It started to rain so they quickly went to their tent and they slept through the rain.
They went exploring the next day, trying to find a clean river to go for a shower and catch some fish for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They went back to camp because it started getting winding only to find their camp had been blown away by the wind.
They took their bags and supplies and left to find a cave or something to shelter in. They found a nice small cave so they prepped they’re sleeping bags and went to go find the Canterbury Panther. They spent hours trying to find the Panther but no luck so they decided to try to find it tomorrow. Mildred awoke and her Dad was making breakfast for them. They ate and went on a journey to find the Panther, they checked hills, behind trees, in the bushes and caves but no luck. It was starting to get late so they decided to check one last cave before heading home. The last cave they went into had glow worms.
They were so beautiful and they decided to take one to use as a flashlight.
Mildred and her Dad went back to their cave only to find the Canterbury Panther sleeping at the entrance of it. Mildred squealed in excitement and woke up the angry panther. They ran away with the angry panther on their tail. They quickly climbed up a tree waiting for the Panther to go away. They waited all night and the panther fell asleep so they headed to the cave and packed, fulfilling Mildred’s dream.
They caught a plane back to New Zealand with Mildred’s mum waiting for them back at home. When they arrived they realized they forgot to take a photo. They shrugged it off knowing what they had was great memories from their trip and the Canterbury Panther. Mum got better over time not knowing what Mildred and her father did.
